5 websites doing social good

There is little doubt that the Internet is assisting causes find a voice with a global audience. Some causes have found recognition, not only for their efforts, but also in their approach to engage the online environment.

The Webby’s is the equivalent of the Oscars for the web and recognises excellence in website design, functionality and new media presence. The following sites are winners and nominees in the 2012 ‘Activism’ category.

Simple, yet effective, these websites managed to gain critical attention and influence action on an individual level. The winner in both the Webby Award and People’s Voice categories was ‘Counterspill’.
